Oyster River 3, Coe-Brown 2

Key players: Coe-Brown – Jordan Gilbert (10 kills, 19 assists, 5 aces, 8 digs), Noelle Sartin (17 kills), Haile Comeau (16 digs, fantastic serve reception)

Highlights: The Bears dropped their first match of the season on Friday as the Bobcats won a battle between Division II’s top two teams, 22-25, 17-25, 25-22, 25-15, 15-12.

Coach’s quote: “We started the first two sets executing our game plan by serving very smart and attacking open court. Oyster River has a very solid team and we knew we couldn’t just play, but had to play smart and aggressive. In the third and fourth sets we took our foot off the gas and got tentative and Oyster River got rolling offensively. Emma Hampton is one of the best hitters in the division, so we know we have to continue to attack the ball to keep them out of system as much as possible. Oyster River played a great match and it’s good motivation to get back in the gym and work harder and come back stronger together.” – Coe-Brown’s Renee Zobel
