Over the past two years, NH has witnessed a dramatic transformation. Pushing a Free State libertarian agenda, right wing extremists are now at the helm leaving chaos in their wake. They have instituted the most restrictive abortion ban in modern NH history. Their Education Freedom Account program uses taxpayer dollars to provide vouchers for private school tuition. Budgeted for $130,000, the program used $8 million in year one and $14.7 million this year, forcing municipalities to either slash school budgets or raise property taxes. The radical right has made voting harder, sided with polluting industries over public health, failed to move forward with alternative energy solutions, defunded family planning clinics, voted against raising NHโs $7.25 minimum wage. And this is the short list.
Weโre on an out-of-control train that needs to be stopped before it takes us all over the cliff. From the top of the ticket to all down ballot races we need to elect officials who will get NH back on track. Hopkinton and Bow, now in Merrimack District 9, will be voting for four representatives. Democratic candidates Mel Myler, Dave Luneau, Muriel Hall, and Angela Brennan are strong community leaders who are committed to preserving quality public education, standing up for womenโs rights, fighting for fair elections, protecting NHโs environment, and ensuring fair wages. In the Senate and Executive Council races, Sen. Becky Whitley and Executive Council member Cinde Warmington are outstanding public servants who have more than earned re-election.
