Lovemark was one of four players to shoot the day’s low score, 68, under conditions that worsened as the afternoon went on, which helped protect Hoffman from the field.

Dustin Johnson was among those chasing Hoffman, who opened with a 64 Thursday, but Johnson dropped back to 8 under with a bogey on 17, closing with a 71 after narrowly missing a 10-foot birdie putt on 18.

The second happened against Ottawa on March 12, and triggered a $2,000 fine. He was cited a third time during a game against Calgary on March 21, which led to a $3,000 fine.

A fourth citation draws a $4,000 fine and each following would cost $5,000 apiece.

NFLLeague sets dates for offseason workouts

Three teams with new coaches will begin voluntary offseason workouts on Monday: San Francisco, Philadelphia and Cleveland.

The NFL announced spring workout dates Friday, with most mandatory minicamps scheduled for mid-June.

Other teams that changed coaching staffs and can begin early activities – strength and conditioning and physical rehabilitation only – are Miami, Tampa Bay and the New York Giants. They will start on April 11.

Under the labor agreement, there are three phases to the voluntary programs. The second phase allows on-field workouts with individual player instruction and drills, as well as team practices with no live contact or offense versus defense drills.

The third phase allows 10 days over four weeks of organized team activities. OTAs consist of 7-on-7, 9-on-7, and 11-on-11 drills, but no live contact.

The first required minicamps will be staged June 7-9, with many teams holding them the following week.

NHLEmery with Flyers for rest of regular season

PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia Flyers said they’re signing goaltender Ray Emery to a contract for the remainder of the season.

The 33-year-old Emery joined the Flyers on a professional tryout agreement earlier in the week. Because he signed after the trade deadline, he’s not eligible to play in the playoffs.

Philadelphia brought in Emery as insurance because goalie Michal Neuvirth is out with an unspecified lower-body injury. Starter Steve Mason has played seven consecutive games since Neuvirth was injured, and rookie Anthony Stolarz has yet to make his NHL debut.

Emery is a veteran of 287 NHL games and went 10-11-7 with a 3.06 goals-against average and .894 save percentage as the Flyers’ backup last season. He bounced around the minors and Europe this season before being invited to join Philadelphia.
