Thank you to Sen. Kelly Ayotte for standing up to make sure the American public and New Hampshire voters have the opportunity to weigh in on the Supreme Court vacancy and the next president.
While some people are arguing that the public did weigh in when President Obama was re-elected in 2012, I’d remind them that we also weighed in when we elected the current Senate in 2014. We chose this divided government for a reason. We wanted there to be a check on President Obama’s power.
So let us weigh in again. Maybe the public will elect a Democrat who will appoint a liberal activist to the Supreme Court. Maybe not. But we deserve the chance to make that choice.
