ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. – The Buffalo Bills continued restocking their defensive backfield by signing free agent cornerback Sterling Moore.
Moore is a fifth-year player, who had an interception and forced three fumbles in nine starts in 16 games with Tampa Bay last season. He’s listed at 5-foot-10 and 202 pounds, and broke into the NFL in 2011 as an undrafted free agent with New England. He also played two-plus seasons in Dallas.
Overall, Moore has four interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown, and five forced fumbles in 56 career games.
The signing was announced Tuesday, a day after Buffalo signed free agent cornerback Corey White.
Buffalo has openings available behind starting cornerbacks, Stephon Gilmore and Ronald Darby after cutting veteran backup Leodis McKelvin and losing Ron Brooks in free agency.

NEW YORK – Jury selection began in a civil trial over a California woman’s claim she was punched in the face by New York Jets receiver Brandon Marshall outside a Manhattan nightclub.
Christin Myles seeks unspecified damages from Marshall at a federal trial that started Tuesday.
The San Diego woman said she has suffered recurring head and neck pain since she was knocked down outside the Marquee nightclub on March 11, 2012. At the time, she was 24 years old.
Judge George Daniels told prospective jurors that Marshall has denied striking Myles. He was not charged criminally. A security video partially showing the altercation and some photographs are among likely trial exhibits.
The judge introduced both Marshall and Myles to prospective jurors. Each stood and turned slightly toward the potential jurors.

NEW YORK – Yankees pitcher Bryan Mitchell will be sidelined at least four months following surgery to repair a broken bone in his left big toe.
The 24-year-old right-hander fractured the sesamoid bone while covering first base Wednesday during an exhibition game against Atlanta. He was scheduled to be examined Monday by Dr. Robert Anderson.
“He had surgery yesterday,” Yankees Manager Joe Girardi said before Tuesday’s opener. “He will be out at least four months. We’re waiting for an exact timetable. . . . We’ve got to find out exactly what that four months means.”
Mitchell had a 6.37 ERA in two starts and 18 relief appearances last year, and the Yankees had planned for him to fill the long relief and spot starter role that had been held by Adam Warren, who was traded to the Chicago Cubs in the deal for second baseman Starlin Castro.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – North Carolina point guard Joel Berry II has a foot injury he suffered in Monday’s loss to Villanova in the NCAA championship game.
Berry was on crutches with his left foot in a protective boot due to an injury when the team returned to campus on Tuesday. Team spokesman Steve Kirschner said Berry woke up in pain Tuesday morning with what is believed to be a sprained foot, and will undergo further evaluation.
The sophomore scored 15 of his 20 points in the first half and played 37 minutes in the 77-74 loss to the Wildcats in Houston.
The school estimated more than 3,000 fans came to the Smith Center to greet the team upon its return from the airport Tuesday afternoon.
