Dear Sen. Shaheen and Gov. Hassan: As an independent I have voted for each of you whenever you have run for office.
Although I will not vote for Kelly Ayotte in the upcoming Senate race, both of your positions on kowtowing to the Democratic Party machine’s obscene rule regarding superdelegates is making my voting choice difficult.
It seems you both need to be reminded that you represent the people of New Hampshire, not the machine.
I know you are beholden to the machine as it is supporting (read that as funding) your elections. But you must know that very process is what has angered voters.
The superdelegate process undermines democracy. And your participation in such a corrupt process undermines your honesty and integrity. Your obligation is to represent the people, a majority of whom (among Democrats) voted for Bernie Sanders.
I know you like Hillary and feel you owe her allegiance. The party is running scared because Bernie is challenging the “old guard establishment” as much as he is offering heartfelt and rational statements on how a country should treat its citizens.
You both have turned a blind eye to the people you are sworn to represent and thus degrade the process. Find your moral center. Break from the manipulative rule regarding superdelegates and honor the belief that “one person, one vote” actually matters in the country. At the Democratic convention, vote as the people of New Hampshire have voted. Vote for Bernie.
