Rekha Luther, the former Pembroke Academy dean of students charged with bringing heroin into the school, waived her probable cause hearing Monday.

The 36-year-old Manchester woman’s bail remained set at $10,000 personal recognizance. She’s facing four felony-level charges of possession of a controlled drug.

News media and at least one parent of a student at the high school appeared in the audience of Hooksett’s district court Monday morning to see what would happen with the highly publicized case. Until recently, parents were unaware of the Feb. 17 arrest.

Appearing in a black blazer, Luther was in and out of the courtroom in only a few minutes. Ashlie Hooper, the prosecutor from the Merrimack County sheriff’s office, said Luther’s attorney filled out the waiver form and met with her outside the courtroom before the hearing.

Judge John Coughlin announced the case, stated that the bail would be continued as is and moved on to the next case.

The charges will next be presented to a Merrimack County grand jury for possible indictment.
