John Stark Regional High School senior Matthew Denham took first place in the slopeside competition of the U.S. Snowboard and Freeski Associationโ€™s National Championships held April 8-12 at Copper Mountain in Colorado, which will likely garner him an invitation to the U.S. National Ski Team training camp this summer. WEARE John Stark student sees success on snow

John Stark senior Matthew Denham took first place in the slopeside competition of the U.S. Snowboard and Freeski Associationโ€™s National Championships held April 8-12 at Copper Mountain in Colorado. Denham competed in the menโ€™s division. His first place finish will likely garner him an invitation to the U.S. National Ski Team training camp this summer. He is the son of Mark and Monica Denham of Henniker. Denham was ranked No. 2 for his division in slopeside and his sponsor is Faction Skis.

The Weare school board will meet Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the school library.

A 5K fun run will be held May 20 at 4:15 p.m. at Weare Middle School for children age 8 and older, sponsored by the Wellness Committee. The fee for registration is $10 with a $30 family cap. Registration forms are available in the front office or from either schoolโ€™s website. Great prizes will be awarded.

A town wide roadside clean up will be Saturday. Blue bags will be available at the town clerkโ€™s office and you can indicate the area you will clean up.

A Little Girlsโ€™ Tea Party will be held May 7 at 2 p.m. at town hall. Cost is $15 for two and $5 for each additional person. It is recommended ages 6 to 12 with an accompanying adult. Reservations are required; call Terri at 529-0425 or email wahnowsky@comcast.net.

WEBSTER Pick up the roads

A spring cleaning drive to benefit the Webster Food Pantry will run through the end of April. Any donation of a cleaning product will be greatly appreciated. A collection bin is by the lower entrance to the Pillsbury Lake Clubhouse.

The annual Webster roadside clean up will be April 30. Pick a section of road in your neighborhood and visit the public safety building from 9 to 10 a.m. to pick up trash bags. The Webster Conservation Commission will supply bags, water bottles and granola bars to go.

Webster Elementary students will participate in a district choral concert Wednesday at Merrimack Valley High School at 7 p.m.

The Webster school will be closed for vacation April 25-29.

The first community public supper of this year will be held Saturday. It will be a roast pork dinner with all the fixings from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Cost will be $8, children ages 5 to 12 are $5 and children under 5 are free.

This will be the 33rd year that Sonny Hunt and the kayakers have been in Webster. There will be a breakfast Sunday and the kayakers will attend also. Cost of the breakfast will be $6.50 for adults, $5 for children ages 5 to 12 and children under 5 are free.

Merrimack County Pomona Grange 3 will meet at the home of Dorothy Haskins for a re-scheduled meeting Tuesday at 6 p.m. for a potluck, business meeting and literary program. Arthur Merrill will be the guest.
