I write on Earth Day, the day after Prince died, and two days after the Monitor reported in a Bloomberg News story, “Earth’s temperature just shattered the thermometer.”
We react in shock when an individual artist suddenly dies at the age of 57, but do so little when our carbon pollution conveys our home planet toward a climate that will become unlivable for many later this century.
“50 years from now what will they say about us here?/
Did we care for the water and the fragile atmosphere?/
There are only two kinds of folk and the difference they make/
