In 1953, my grandfather said our country was “going to hell in a handbasket.” The Monitor’s front page of April 20 looks like you dumped some of the basket on it. Just a glance should awaken a few people who have any Yankee common sense left.
More booze, more children who do not respect our police force’s right to keep drugs out of schools, more attacks on brazen perversion and more convicted criminals who wish to subvert the law and be set free, sure do color our “civilization” with a dismal complexion.
How did we get here? At gunpoint – or voluntarily? What one generation accepts, the next generation embraces. That’s how we got here.
When we see such front-page news, remember we, as a “society,” evicted God from our schools.
