The Hillsboro-Deering DECA team returned from the international conference in Nashville, Tenn., with several accolades.
The virtual business sports team – with students Nicholas Lester, Thomas Ferguson and Ryan Gillett – placed seventh out of more than 3,000 teams, 16 that made it to the conference.
The virtual business restaurant team – with students Panagiotis Galatas, Matt Otten and Brandon Soules – placed eighth internationally.
Senior Michael Carter was a finalist in the quick service restaurant management event.
Kaelyn Snair, Jessica Peshel and Zachary Urban were awarded the Gold Recertified School-Based Enterprise Award for their management of the Hillcat Corner.
In all, 22 students attended the conference and were able to tour Nashville, including taking in a concert at the Grand Ole Opry.
