I urge any and all area House representatives to vote in favor of SB 426, a bi-partisan instrument that aims to create a commission to study, research and conduct meaningful respectful discussion about end of life decisions.
The bill was passed with strong support in the Senate, has the support of the House Judiciary Committee, and predictable support from Gov. Maggie Hassan to sign into law and launch the needed โconversations.โ In the next days ahead, SB 426 shall reach the House floor.
My advocacy has been delivered to both bodies. It was saddening to hear some of the divisive and undocumented criticism. It appears the opposition was against an enabling bill, citing wild accusations and abuses. This bill is prior to any enabling legislation and seeks respectful exchange and conversation in order to balance concerns with appropriate safeguards and a clear vetting system with an individualโs personal choice.
Balance of positions with respect of differences is the hallmark of any good legislationโฆVive la balance!
