We’d like to express our appreciation to everyone who came to The Works on April 12 for Equal Pay Day. This day brought national awareness to the issue that women in the workforce make, on average, 21 percent less then men for the same job. The discrepancy widens if you’re a minority woman. To support the work of Stand With Women, The Works discounted every woman’s meal by 21 percent on April 21. The outpouring of support for this cause that we received from women coming in with friends, sisters, mothers, boyfriends, husbands, wives, was phenomenal.
Raised by a single, working mom, I saw firsthand how women often have fewer opportunities and in many situations are treated differently than their male counterparts. We are proud to Stand With Women, so that all women can be equal partners in the new economy and their families can thrive.
