Gerald Roger Biron of Wilmot was recognized as the oldest resident in the town and presented with its Boston Post Cane.
The Wilmot Historical Society sponsored a ceremony May 8. The society also stores the cane for safekeeping.
Biron was born in 1922 in Manchester. He joined the Navy during World War II on an aircraft carrier that traversed the Panama Canal en route to Pearl Harbor.
After the war, he married Gertrude Thibeault, and they lived in Allenstown with their three sons.
He later served in the Air Force and Air National Guard from 1955 to 1982 in Manchester and Portsmouth, and drove for HP Welch Trucking and Petit Funeral Home.
He and his wife moved to Concord after retirement. In 2013, he moved to live with his son Rick and his wife, Joan Marie, in Wilmot. They have lived in the town for more than 33 years.
