When traveling to Henniker from Interstate 89 at Exit 5, there are three sets of rumble strips to remind drivers to slow down to 40 mph so that drivers entering Route 202/9 from Hopkinton can merge into traffic.
What I don’t understand is why when vehicles are traveling on 202/9 to I-89 they need to slow to 40 mph when there is a turn lane for vehicles to slow down to go to Hopkinton.
Most vehicles don’t slow down and big rigs shift down and then have to make their way up the hill to I-89, which causes a backup and a real fiasco at the top of the hill when other vehicles try to get around them.
This makes no sense to me.
