The Winnisquam Regional Middle School Earth Group traveled for the fifth year in a row to the Northeast Resource Recovery Association annual recycling conference where the theme this year was “It’s Not Easy Being Green.”
The nine students were able to choose from sessions on high diversion goals, mercury issues, pay-as-you-throw, single stream, composting, plastics recycling, food waste rescue and more. During lunch, students interacted with each other, sharing new insights and developing new ideas. Participants bring this information back with them as they look at the school’s program to reduce, reuse, recycle and possibly enrich the environmental awareness of the whole middle school community.
