Don’t blame Sanders

Most political pundits make the assumption that Bernie Sanders, polling far ahead of Hillary Clinton in one-on-one match-ups with Trump, would be savaged by Trump were he to become the nominee.

In addition, the DNC appears to want nothing better than to have Sen. Sanders withdraw from the race.

Many rank-and-file Democrats want him to stop criticizing Clinton for fear of worsening her chances to defeat Trump in the fall. But her problem is not Sen. Sanders. Her problem lies primarily with young voters and independents who have never gravitated to her message.

Should she secure the nomination and then lose the election, it will be due to her failure to energize these voters, not Sen. Sanders’s critiques or Trump’s “no holds barred” hostilities.

Her supporters need to get to work and win the youth vote and independent vote, and stop their moaning about Sen. Sanders.
