Advisory: I-89 north Exit 5 closes for work Thursday night

The Department of Transportation will close the Exit 5 northbound off-ramp on Interstate 89 on Thursday night, weather permitting, for road work.

The ramp will be closed between 9 p.m. Thursday and 4 a.m. Friday.

Drivers looking to head west on Route 202 off I-89 north will be detoured to Exit 6 to reverse direction and take the southbound ramp.

The interstate is undergoing a $160,000 crack sealing project between Exits 5 and 7 in Hopkinton and Exits 11 and 12 in New London. Nicom Coating of Barre, Vt., is the contractor on the project.
