Employees at CAVES in Concord are hopeful that someone will claim a stray cat found wandering near traffic on South Main Street last week.

The cat, who does not have a micro chip, is a spayed female that is deaf and blind. Experts at CAVES estimate her age to be between 10 and 15 years old. They attribute her blindness to high blood pressure and hope she will eventually regain her eyesight.

She is a gray and brown tiger cat with white paws, chest and nose.

A couple of employees at a downtown bar reported the stray to the New Hampshire Pet Line (369-6685) last week. They told the Rev. Kate Alexander they suspected the cat was blind as it wandered through traffic.

The cat was picked up and brought to CAVES at 8 p.m. on Saturday. Hospital Manager Wendy Munroe estimated the cat had been wandering for less than one week.

If the owner does not come forward, CAVES will work with local agencies to find the cat a new home.
