Tilton police were searching Friday for a suspect in an armed robbery, and said he had last been seen Thursday night in Concord.
The robbery happened Thursday at the Tilton Shop Express on Laconia Road. The department said Ryan Cheney, 40, pointed a semi-automatic handgun at the clerk and demanded cash before fleeing. Cheney, who has a shaved head, salt and pepper goatee and several tattoos, was considered armed and dangerous, they said.
The department said Cheney had been seen around 10 p.m. Thursday in Concord. A witness there said more than a dozen cruisers and a Bearcat surrounded a residence at 91 Hall St and shouted through a loud speaker for Cheney to come to a front windowl, to no effect. Cheney did not turn up in a search of the residence.
