This writer believes in America and its deep history of acceptance and inclusion. However, in light of the horrific Orlando Islamic terrorist attack, I believe all Americans should be aware of an article printed in the June 13 issue of Time magazine that was written by Shadi Hamid, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution and author of Islamic Exceptionalism: How the Struggle Over Islam is Reshaping the World.
I urge readers to find this article and give Hamidโs writing deep thought.
Hamid writes a compelling piece in which he openly questions the ability of Islam to integrate into a fully open and secular society recognizing equality and acceptance of all, not just Muslims.
Having studied and visited the Middle East on many occasions, and worked with people of the Islamic faith, I do not question anyoneโs belief in God or the right to practice their faith.
However, every American should reflect on what type of society they want to live in โ a society that is free, open and can live without fear for all, or one that allows a religion to dictate how that society is to conduct itself.
The Western world and Islam are on a collision course. How many innocents will be killed by jihadists and how far does political correctness go before we wake up to this threat?
Read the article under the Quick Take section, and you decide.
