The head of Laconia High School, Jim McCollum, has been named interim principal of Rundlett Middle School.

Rundlett’s current principal, Tom Sica, is taking over at Concord High School as Gene Connolly, who has ALS, retires from the school district.

McCollum comes from the same district as Concord Superintendent Terri Forsten, who was hired in 2015.

“He is a strong educational leader who will bring great energy to support outstanding teaching and learning opportunities with our middle school students,” Forsten said in a statement.

Forsten announced McCollum as the interim principal at Rundlett starting July 1. Salary information was not provided.

McCollum worked in the Laconia School District for the past 11 years – seven as principal of the middle school and the last four as principal of the high school.

Prior to Laconia, McCollum was the principal for Newfound Memorial Middle School.
