With all this talk of parking meters for all, just what is the situation regarding the free parking for legislative members?
Every two years we have an arrangement where members of the Legislature are given the use of a large number of meters during their sessions. How does this arrangement affect the city of Concord?
For example, does the state reimburse the city for all those parking slots that are tied up and, if so, on what basis?
When I am downtown I frequently see many meters with hoods over them, making them unavailable to we, the unwashed, of Concord. Are we compensated for this unavailability by the state in some way?
Just where do we stand regarding parking charges versus state fee reimbursement?
