A 72-year-old Northfield woman was killed in a head-on crash on Route 3 in Tilton on Monday, police said.
Josephine Lepelley’s 2003 Dodge Caravan collided with a 2003 Ford F-450 headed in the opposite direction about 4:40 p.m., Tilton police Chief Robert Cormier said in a press release. Lepelley, who was trapped inside the van, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Ford F-450 was identified as Matthew Otto of Belmont. Police didn’t say in the press release whether Otto was injured.
Two small dogs in Lepelley’s van survived the accident and were returned to family members, police said. Neither vehicle had any other passengers in it.
The accident, which occurred near the Rodeway Inn, shut down Route 3 for hours. It remains under investigation.
