Two men with criminal histories in Concord are facing charges in an armed robbery in Manchester early Saturday morning.
James Dickson, 36, and Jonathan Vertigans, 32, both of Manchester and previously of Concord, attempted to rob Mark Hathaway, 44, in the Victory Parking Garage on Vine Street, according to Manchester police.
Hathaway told police the two men fought him for his money, and one of the men took out a knife. During the struggle, Hathaway wrestled the knife away and stabbed his attackers before being knocked unconscious, police said.
Police said Vertigans suffered severe injuries and left a trail of blood over a block from the garage to Victory Park, leading officers to him. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
Hathaway and Dickson also received medical attention for their injuries.
Dickson is charged with felony counts of robbery and falsifying physical evidence, and a misdemeanor count of simple assault.
Vertigans is charged with felony counts of robbery, second-degree assault and falsifying physical evidence, and a misdemeanor charge of breach of bail.
Each was arraigned from jail Monday in Manchesterโs district court. Dickson is being held on $90,000 bail and Vertigans is being held on $140,000 bail in their respective felony cases.
Probable cause hearings are set for Aug. 29 in Manchester.
Dickson and Vertigans each have criminal histories in Concord. Dicksonโs record includes charges for drug possession, receiving stolen property and driving offenses. Vertigans was most recently arrested in Concord in June and charged with theft of lost or mislaid property. He was also arrested in May for disorderly conduct.
