In defending her intention to vote for Donald Trump, Sen. Kelly Ayotte says she will stand up to him. In fairness, she has spoken out against Trump’s most egregious statements and positions. Not once have her comments caused him to change, reconsider or moderate.
So what makes Sen. Ayotte think Trump will suddenly listen if he were to be president? Will she be calling in daily reminders that the Constitution is the law of the land? Will she be at the negotiation table as he buddies up with Putin? Will she sit in the war room as he considers pushing the button? Even so, what makes her think he would care a whit what she thinks?
Sen. Ayotte, the time to stand up to Trump is now. Nov. 9 is too late.
