Jim Adams is the best choice for Executive Council District 4.
The council’s job is to approve state contracts and the governor’s appointments, mostly of judges and department managers. For that we want someone like a governor: strong management experience with some government familiarity. I can’t think of anyone better than Jim for the job.
He made his career in the post office, rising from letter carrier to chief of staff of the postmaster general in Washington, and postmaster of New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont.
This was at a time when the postal service eliminated political patronage positions and became professionally run.
The postal service is huge. It has over 40 times more employees than our state government, although it’s not as varied. Lately Jim has chaired Granite State Taxpayers, our statewide taxpayer organization. He is a New Hampshire native, a veteran, a family man and a conservative.
We’d be lucky to have him represent us on the Executive Council.
