Julian Edelman is reportedly out $26,000, according to ESPN’s Mike Reiss.
Reiss reported Thursday that the NFL fined New England’s top wide receiver for a hit on a defenseless player in Sunday night’s 23-21 win over the Arizona Cardinals.
According to Reiss, Edelman – who caught seven passes for 66 yards Sunday – will appeal the penalty.
Zack Cox of NESN speculated that the hit the NFL fined Edelman for was on Cardinals linebacker Deone Bucannon, who took a shot to the head on a block from Edelman in the first quarter.
The 30-year-old was also fined after a game against the Broncos in 2014. Edelman celebrated an 84-yard punt return for a touchdown by firing the football into the stands, resulting in a $5,000 fine.
