Last month, I saw Michael Moffett’s letter introducing himself to Merrimack District 9 (Loudon and Canterbury) voters and two days later, a reply from his opponent, Howard Moffett. Curious, I went to Michael’s Facebook page where I found a photo of the two of them holding their respective campaign signs at the polls last week.
What caught my eye is that each is also holding a sign for their counterparts in District 26 (Boscawen, Loudon, Canterbury, Northfield and Franklin Ward 3). Howard Moffett for Lorrie Carey, and Michael Moffett for Howard Pearl.
Howard Pearl was the subject of reporter Elodie Reed’s article on Sept. 8: “After failed 2014 state Senate bid and criminal charges dropped, Howard Pearl seeks House seat.” Her article explains that a year after Pearl was arrested for sexually assaulting a 15-year-girl “known to the accused,” his case was dismissed on a technicality in 2015.
Michael Moffett’s sign boasts of his “integrity.” If one is known by the company one keeps, he might want to think again about campaigning for Howard Pearl.
