A strong storm pounded parts of Southern New Hampshire on Friday night, but left Concord relatively unscathed.
The National Weather Service in Gray, Maine, reported about 2-3 inches of rain falling in Merrimack County on Friday. Chichester received the most rain in the Greater Concord area, with about 3.28 inches.
Some streets in the city floodedย on Friday night, with standing water in the area of the Washington Street and Essex Street intersection. However, Concord Fire Chief Dan Andrus said it was a relatively quiet night for his crews.
Andrus said firefighters responded to a call at the University of New Hampshire Law School around 10:30 p.m. Friday for a water problem. However, Andrus said crews returned to the station soon after, as the school was able to handle the problem itself.
โOther than that we didnโt seem to have what we expected,โ he said.
The flooding took more of a toll in Manchester and cities and towns in the Seacoast region. Flash flooding occurred on the streets ofย Worcester, Mass., after about 4 inches of rain fell there.ย
