Boscawen
The Penacook Community Center Senior Program in conjunction with the Friends Program offers Bone Builders classes in Boscawen every Monday and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Boscawen Town Hall. New participants are always welcome; arrive 10 minutes early so that class may begin promptly at 9:30 a.m. Bone Builders is a free (donations accepted), alternative exercise program for those who want to counteract the negative effects of osteoporosis. Trained volunteers lead participants in weight bearing exercises designed to address specific areas of the body affected by osteoporosis. Studies have shown that people who participate in Bone Builders and similar exercise programs twice a week for one year can increase their bone density by an average of one percent per year. Bone Builders classes can improve balance and poise, increased energy and mobility, and decreased blood pressure. For more information, call Kristen Pinard-Kenney, senior program director, at 753-9700, ext. 102.
