“Go-Pher the Shows” headlined the Audi’s season-opening gala on Sept. 18, and with all reports in, it’s time – and the season – to “Go-Pher Thanks” to the arts groups and leaders who presented the 26th annual community celebration.
Thanks to Jim Webber and David Murdo, the director/writer and producer, to all the performing groups, and to stage managers Sharon Sweet and Barbara Woodman, who wrangled a cast of 116 performers through an 18-act variety show which ran like clockwork without having had a full rehearsal.
Thanks to the 34 crew members, the volunteer grips and techs and artists working back- and off-stage.
For Main Street support we thank Rich Woodfin and Charter Trust, David Sangiorgio and the Concord Monitor, Concord Hospital, The UPS Store and Gibson’s, CarePlus Facility Maintenance, and Tom and Tootie Arnold of Arnie’s Place who scooped over 500 Ice Cream Social treats. Plus, Angelina’s, CC Tomatoes, Common Man, Hermanos, The Barley House, The Newell Post, Szechuan Gardens, and Veano’s Italian Kitchen 2 who joined area arts groups to support the raffle, run by David Murdo, Celeste Andrews and Chris Pappas.
Thanks to Kristi Badjie for creating our gophers, Betty Hoadley for writing their story, and Tess Hodges for bringing them to animated life – a first for the Audi. The little gophers are leading the Audi’s Seat Restoration Project toward the $100,000 goal of safety, accessibility, and comfort.
And here’s more good news: the annual gala is a friend-raiser, but it turned into a fundraiser as well, adding $1,000 or 10 seats! Now the project is well underway, and it does indeed “take a village.” This is some “village,” our Concord and your Audi thanks you all.
