There will be a wreath-laying ceremony for President Franklin Pierce’s 212th birthday at the Old North Cemetery on Tuesday at 10 a.m. This will be hosted by the Pierce Brigade, the U.S. Army National Guard and the Governor’s Horse Guard, with participation from the Christa McAuliffe Elementary School. Concord Grange 322 will meet Nov. 28 at 6:45 p.m. at the IBEW Hall, 48 Airport Road. A planning meeting for 2017 will be held. The Grange will be draping its charter in memory of Arline French, who passed away recently. The New Hampshire Federal Credit Union has donated $500 to purchase new lights and cords for the trees located at the Grange Triangle at Loudon, Pembroke and Airport roads.

Join the 30th annual Concord Christmas tree lighting celebration Friday at 4 p.m. in front of the State House. The Concord Nordic Bill Koch League is well-known for teaching children how to cross-country ski, but the league also offers the more experienced skier excellent training as well as opportunities to learn about Nordic racing. The program will take place on Fridays from Jan. 6 to Feb. 10 from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. Children from kindergarten to fifth grade are required to have their own equipment.
