Police are investigating a report of a burglary at a month-old fried chicken business in downtown Concord.

Maher Abbas, one of the owners of Wow Fried Chicken & Subs, said when he and his co-workers arrived Monday morning, they found the cash drawer and a Samsung phone missing.

Abbas said he hopes whoever broke in will come forward.

“If they do know what they did wrong, or if anybody knows who did it, we would like them to speak up,” Abbas said.

Police responded to the 7 Depot St. business about 9 a.m.

“Right now, it looks like the business has been gone through, possible forced entry,” Lt. Tim O’Malley said at 10:30 a.m., noting that investigators were still at the scene.

Wow Fried Chicken & Subs, which serves a variety of American and Middle Eastern food and stays open as late as 3 a.m. on the weekends, first opened in mid-October.

Despite the reported burglarly, Abbas said the business is operating as usual.

“Nothing was broken, but stuff was just taken I guess,” said Abbas, who was born in Iraq. “That thing that happened to us, it’s probably just going to get us stronger and will get us better.”

The police investigation is ongoing.
