Golf

The team of Steve Mulligan, Richard Jobin, Marshall Irving, Josh Lund and Dave Kruse (above) emerged victorious at the 34th Annual Myles Standish Invitational Golf Tournament at Beaver Meadows. After three teams finished tied at 7-under par 29, the championship was decided with a sudden death playoff. Mulligan was the one to finish it off, sinking a 16-foot putt to clinch the tournament. In the long drive contest, Andy Vachon edged out Justin Smith while Don Prescott won the closest to the pin challenge. Sam Whiting and Phil Whiting took home the John Alden Award, which is given to the highest finishing rookies.

Youth cross country

Meghan Shippos of Bow Memorial School won her age group at the Garden City Turkey Trot. The 12-year-old Shippos finished the five-mile course in 33 minutes and 13 seconds for 63rd in a race that featured over 3,500 runners.

Road race

Bishop Brady High School held its 18th Annual Galloping Gobbler road race with over 300 participants. On the men’s side of the four-mile event, Warren Bartlett claimed the top spot with a time of 22 minutes and four seconds. Camden Black-Ingersoll (22:19) placed behind Barlett and Ryan Proulx (22:13) finished third. For the women’s race, Morganne Orcutt won in 28 minutes and 30 seconds while Lily Sabol (29:41) and Kerri Mobile (30:12) rounded out the top three.

New Hampshire High School Softball Coaches’ Association is sponsoring a conference and clinic for any softball coaches and players of all levels on Jan. 15, at 2 p.m. at NHTI. John Stark Winter Sports Parent/Athlete meeting is scheduled for Thursday at 7 p.m. in the high school gym.
