UNH volleyball’s Demi Muses, a senior middle blocker and captain of the Wildcats, was named to the NCAA Division I All-Star team. Muses was also named America East Player of the Year and selected to the All-Conference First Team earlier this month. Muses leads the Wildcats in points (415), points per set (4.23), kills (350), kills per set (3.57), hitting percentage (.296) and digs per set (3.56). Muses leads the America East in points, pionts per set and kills per set. She is third in hitting percentage, fifth in digs per set and ninth in blocks per set. UNH (21-10) will take on top-ranked and defending national champion University of Nebraska on Friday in the NCAA Tournament.
The Concord Capitals Eastern Bank Squirt 2 team split a pair of games on Saturday, defeating Berlin Squirt 1, 5-4, and losing to Mt. Washington Valley Squirt 1, 5-4. Scoring for Concord was Griffin Norwalt (four goals, assist), Evan Purtell (two goals, assist) and Aiden Ciminesi (three goals). Logan Hayes had an assist.
In first round action at the Goffstown Jamboree, the Bow 7/8 grade boys defeated Hooksett, 42-23. Offensively, Matt Cardarelli (18 points) paced Bow (6-1), while Owen Petretta, Andrew Robbins, Cooper Larrabee and Alex Boisvert scored six points apiece. Evan Smith was strong on the glass.
In second round action at the Goffstown Jamboree, the Bow 3/4 grade boys fell to Goffstown, 26-18. Offensively, Peyton Larrabee and Keenan Hubbard led Bow (2-5) with six points apiece, followed by Andre Contraras (four) and Brendan O’Keeffe (two). Jake Reardon had several rebounds while Jake Antuna hustled at both ends of the court.
In second round action at the Goffstown Jamboree, the Bow sixth grade girls defeated Goffstown, 38-6. Alexandra Larrabee, Ellie Pingree and Lyndsey LaPerle each scored eight points, while Catherine Windsor chipped in six. Rachel Pelletier led Bow (2-4) in rebounding while Meaghan Wray had several assists.
The St. Paul’s girls’ varsity hockey team defeated Brewster Academy, 7-0, with a well-balanced attack. Gillis Frechette and Tiffany Hill led the offense with two goals each, while Caitlyn Wilkin, Natalie Tulchinsky and Concord’s Isabel Stoddard also scored. Ten different players recorded assists. Peri Donaldson earned the shutout in goal.
The Proctor Academy girls’ hockey team defeated Holderness, 3-1.
The Tilton School varsity B boys’ hockey team defeated Cardigan Mountain, 7-6. Brendan Sjostedt (two goals, two assists), Brandon Reidy (two assists) and Kyle McElhaney (three goals) led the Rams.
