A tractor trailer struck a guardrail and jackknifed Monday morning on Interstate 89 in Hopkinton, leaking approximately 100 gallons of diesel fuel, according to police.
The interstate was reduced to one lane of travel for more than three hours to facilitate the cleanup of the fuel on I-89 north. The state Department of Environmental Services responded to the incident and supervised the cleanup efforts, state police said.
The 2015 Freightliner, which had a 53-foot box trailer, was driven by Yusniel Rodriguez, 27, of Hallendale Beach, Fla. The tractor trailer was registered to Nationwide Express Transportation of Hialeah, Fla.
Rodriguez was cited for driving too fast for the snow-covered road conditions and for a commercial vehicle log book violation.
No one was injured in the incident, which was reported at 9:58 a.m.
The crash remains under investigation. State police ask anyone with information to contact Trooper Anthony Cattabriga at 271-1162.
