A registered sex offender is accused of committing numerous sex-related crimes against a young boy in Concord, police said.
Gary Chalifoux, 45, of Manchester, is facing 13 felony charges, including five counts of felonious sexual assault, and two counts each of manufacturing child sexual abuse images and possession of child pornography.
He is also facing four felony charges of failing to report his email and Facebook accounts to police, which he is required to do as a registered sex offender. Concord police say Chalifoux was using the Gmail account “heyman9090909@gmail.com” and Facebook account “Ace Robert Knight.”
Chalifoux is accused of sexually assaulting a 7-year-old boy between Aug. 31, 2015, and Feb. 10, 2016. He recorded himself and the boy engaged in sexually explicit acts, according to court documents.
Police began their investigation of Chalifoux, who is a registered sex offender, on Sunday after receiving information that he may have sexually assaulted a young child and manufactured child pornography, according to Concord police Detective Sgt. Sean Ford.
Detectives executed search warrants and conducted numerous interviews and ultimately issued a warrant for Chalifoux’s arrest. Concord police were assisted by the Manchester Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service in locating and arresting Chalifoux at a residence on Maple Street in the Queen City.
Police are trying to identify any other children that may have been around Chalifoux recently.
“Chalifoux, whose listed his address in the sex offender registry as ‘homeless’ in the city of Concord, has been known to stay at multiple addresses over the past few years,” Ford wrote.
Chalifoux is being held on $360,000 cash bail and was scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday, but the video arraignment was postponed because he requested a lawyer. The arraignment was rescheduled for today at 11 a.m. in Concord’s district court.
The police investigation is ongoing, and Ford said additional charges are possible.
