Hope for Gus, a Peterborough nonprofit, launched a new mannequin challenge called Freeze That Disease with a Facebook Live video in front of the State House on Friday morning. The campaign hopes to raise awareness and research funds to fight Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a genetic disorder that causes progressive deterioration of muscles resulting in a shortened lifespan. There is currently no cure. The foundation was started by Steve and Tonya Dreher after their son, Gus, was diagnosed with Duchenne at the age of four.
