BOSCAWEN Bingo back in full swing

If one of your New Year resolutions is to become healthier, check out the Bone Builders group that meets every Monday and Friday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the town hall, in the basement of the Boscawen Congregational Church. Also, Chair Yoga is held weekly at 9 to 9:45 a.m. at Boscawen Public Library.

Bingo returns in full swing on Saturday at the Boscawen Town Hall (basement of the Congregational Church). A homemade turkey dinner will be served at noon followed by an afternoon of bingo and lots of fun, all for just $10. Additional bingo games plus delicious lunches will be held Jan. 28, Feb. 11 and 25, March 11 and 25 and April 8 and 22. Proceeds will benefit the Boscawen Old Home Day event.

The town municipal offices and the Boscawen Public Library will be closed for the New Year’s Day holiday tomorrow.

BOW Join grief support group

Don’t forget the Bow Community Men’s Club’s New Year’s Day breakfast this morning! The feast is being held at the Bow Community Center, 3 Bow Center Road, from 8:30 a.m. to noon. It will include eggs, bacon, sausage, hash, chipped beef, beans, blueberry pancakes, French toast, fruit salad, toast, coffee, milk, tea, hot chocolate and juice. CHICHESTER Old Home Day Committee needs volunteers

The 2017 Old Home Day Committee needs volunteers to prepare the event. The Chichester select board invites anyone interested in serving on the committee to meet Jan. 18 at 6:30 p.m. at the Grange. A New England Christmas – Captain Eli’s Best Year will be performed by the Pontine Theatre Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Grange Hall. This wonderful puppetry play is open to the public and is a free event, thanks to the Chichester Library and the New Hampshire Humanities Council. Refreshments will be served.

The Chichester Library is adding a new weekly program called Toddler Time. Starting Jan. 10, from 10 to 11 a.m., the program is for children under the age of 3. Babies are welcome. Parents/caregivers must stay during the program of storytelling, games, songs and very simple crafts. No sign-up is required.

DUNBARTON Don’t miss public forum on education of youth

Sunday morning breakfasts start Jan. 8! The Dunbarton Congregational Church will offer a full breakfast at the Teapot Tavern, 1007 School St., from 8 to 10 a.m. All proceeds will benefit the church’s scholarship fund for children attending Horton Center Camp. Everyone is welcome.

There will be a public forum on Jan. 11 at 6:30 p.m. at the elementary school. Capital improvement plans, all-day kindergarten, enrollment trends, and programming and space needs at the elementary school will be discussed with possible options for the 2017-18 school year. Possible building renovations will be introduced.

There will be no school on Jan. 16, Martin Luther King/Civil Rights Day.

Vanished Veterans: An Illustrated Introduction to New Hampshire Civil War Monuments and Memorials will be presented Jan. 19 at 6:30 p.m. by George Morrison. The event will take place thanks to a generous grant from New Hampshire Humanities Council.

FRANKLIN Watch kayakers run down the river’s rapids

Ring in the New Year with First Day Franklin today from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., sponsored by Choose Franklin. Watch kayakers run the rapids on the Winnipesaukee River, docking at Trestle View Park where they will be welcomed into a heated tent with hot soup, chili and more to warm them up. Children’s activities will be provided by the Junior Youth Group of Franklin. Various local organizations will provide food for the kayakers, which is also available for attendees for a donation.

Diabetes Self Care – Living Well with Diabetes will begin a six-week class focusing on managing blood sugar, physical activity, goal setting and more.
