With more than two decades of service to the school district, Concord High’s head custodian, Angel Douglas, decided it was time for an exit now that a grandchild has enrolled.
“I figured when you have a granddaughter in the high school, it’s time to go,” said Douglas, 65, whose retirement was celebrated with cake in the school’s cafeteria Tuesday.
Douglas said working at the school had been fun, and that the good had outweighed the bad. But one thing wouldn’t be missed: the school’s perennial flooding.
“It’s like Waterworld. When it rains, it pours,” Douglas said.
