Franklin native Dana Bean, a freshman on the Colby-Sawyer men’s basketball team, was named the North Atlantic Conference’s rookie of the week on Monday.
Bean recorded two double-doubles last week, averaging 18 points and 16 rebounds and shooting 56.5 percent (13-of-23) from the field in two games for the Chargers. He also made 10-of-12 free throw attempts.
In an 85-80 overtime loss at Johnson State, Bean went 9-of-13 from the floor and made 6-of-8 free throw attempts to lead all players with 24 points. The center also gathered 18 rebounds to come within one board of tying the Colby-Sawyer single-game record of 19, while posting two assists and one steal. Bean then recorded his fourth overall double-double in a 79-54 non-conference victory at Regis. He finished with 12 points, a game-best 14 rebounds, a pair of blocks and one steal.
Colby-Sawyer will play its fifth road game in a row on Thursday at Castleton before hosting Green Mountain on Saturday.
