One person died in a three-alarm house fire early Sunday morning on Little Hill Road in Webster, according to the state fire marshal’s office.
Officials are withholding the name of the deceased pending an autopsy this morning.
A total of nine people were in the home at 401 Little Hill Road at the time, and eight escaped to safety, according to reports.
The residence was heavily damaged in the fire and is a complete loss, the fire marshal’s office said. The case of the fire remains under investigation by Webster Fire Chief Emmett Bean Sr. and police Chief Ben Liberatore, who are being assisted by the state.
The Webster Fire Department responded to the fire at approximately 2:45 a.m. Someone inside the home discovered the fire and alerted the other residents to the blaze, according to reports.
Several area fire departments assisted Webster, including Concord.
Fire officials said Sunday’s fire is an example of why working smoke alarms and a fire escape plan are so important.
The authorities ask anyone with information about the fire to contact fire investigator Shana Clark at 223-4289.
