Youth basketball champs
The Concord Boys and Girls Club fifth- and sixth-grade boys’ basketball team (pictured above) won the Bow Athletic Club Basketball Tournament. Team members included: Matt Jenness, Traevon Ling, Moses Carr, Quinton Pincoske, Henry Smalley, Danny Revellese, Hunter Lamarre, Max Leahy and Zanis Lauris. Carr was named tournament MVP while Max Leahy and Quinton Pincoske were named to the All-Tournament Team.
The Tilton School girls’ varsity basketball team defeated Berkshire School, 54-52, to win its second straight NEPSAC Class B championship. Webster’s Mayson Kimball (14 points, eight rebounds) and Ashley Berube (12 points, nine rebounds) led Tilton, while Olivia Orland (10 points, 14 rebounds, five assists, three steals) was named Tournament MVP.
The University of New Hampshire Alpine ski team is 11th and the Plymouth State team is 12th out of 16 teams through the giant slalom portion of the NCAA Skiing Championships being held at Cannon Mtn. Montana State is currently in first place while Dartmouth is in fourth. Overall team scores combine both men’s and women’s results.
Loudon’s Warren Bartlett, a sophomore on the Plymouth State men’s track and field team, was named a New England Region All-Region Honoree for the mile. Bartlett holds the mile record at PSU and broke his own record this year at the Tufts Final Qualfier Meet with a time of 4:14.4. Prior to Bartlett’s run earlier this season, the previous record was set back in 1979.
Four Plymouth State men’s hockey players were named to the MASCAC All-Conference teams. Sophomore Ryan Stevens was named to the First Team while senior captain Michael Economos and sophomores Evan Morelli and Tim Perron were named to the Second Team.

Tryouts/Registrations
Concord Little League will hold an in-person registration event today from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Concord Boys and Girls Club. Major tryouts will be held Saturday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Concord Sports Center at and Tuesday from 5:50-7:30 p.m. at Beaver Meadow School. Returning players do not need to tryout. Those players looking to make a major’s roster must attend one of the two sessions to be eligible for the draft.
Concord American Softball registrations will be held at the Concord Boys and Girls Club Saturday from 2:30-4 p.m. Girls who attend Beaver Meadow School or Christa McAuliffe Elementary School are eligible to participate. Granite State Raiders Basketball is offering tryouts for its boys and girls teams on March 18 and March 19. Fifth-, sixth- and seventh-grade boys and girls tryout from 8:30-9:30 a.m.; eighth- and ninth-grade boys and girls from 9:30-10:30 a.m.; 10th- and 11th-grade boys and girls from 10:30-11:30 a.m. All tryouts are at Bishop Brady High School. Merrimack Valley Blue Storm girls’ lacrosse clinics are happening every Sunday at the Concord Sports Center. Grades preK-fifth are from 2:30-3:30 p.m and clinics for middle schoolers run from 7-8 p.m. Each sessions costs $15. Email kbstearns@icloud.com with any questions.

UNH field hockey program has announced two April clinics and tournament dates. The U14/U16 and U19 high school and club team clinic and tournament will be held April 9 and the U16/U19 team clinic and tournament is April 23. UNH women’s lacrosse summer camp will be held June 26-28. The camp is open to girls entering grades 6-12 in the 2017-18 academic year. There are commuter and overnight options, both of which include meals provided at UNH dining facilities. The overnight also includes housing in UNH dormitories. Cost is $375 for the commuter option and $450 for overnight campers. There is a group/team discount available for overnight campers. UNH field hockey summer camps are now accepting registrations for three 2017 camps: session I (June 28-July 1), session II (July 5-8) and a youth clinic (July 6-7). Session I and II are open to junior high and high school students (as of fall 2017). There are overnight ($475) and commuter ($375) options for both sessions. The youth clinic will be held from 9-11 a.m. and is open to ages 5-12. The cost is $35 per day or $60 for both days. UNH women’s soccer camps are now open for registration. The 2017 Junior Wildcat Girls Soccer Camp will be held from July 10-13. All female players in grades 1-5 (as of the 2017-18 academic year) are invited to register. Four morning sessions will be taught by UNH women’s soccer staff and players. Each day runs from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. This session costs $180. The 2017 UNH Girls Soccer Overnight Camp will be held from July 16-19. This session is open to all female player in grades 6-12 (as of the 2017-18 academic year). The overnight option costs $530 and the commuter option totals $430. Franklin High School Boosters Club Winter Sports Banquet will be held today at 6 p.m. in the FHS cafeteria. A pot luck meal will begin at 6 p.m., followed by individual and specialty awards given by each team before splitting into classrooms for certificates and letters. The girls and boys basketball teams are responsible to bring main dishes and the wrestling and indoor track teams are to bring desserts.
Culture of Sports conference hosted by NHTI Sports Management Club is on April 7 beginning at 8:30 a.m. The event will include keynote speaker Jamie Staton from WMUR, plus Monitor Sports Editor Tim O’Sullivan and others. The conference is for sports-minded professionals from every level including sports management majors, coaches, aspiring athletic directors and sports executives. For students who register before March 30, cost is $10 per person or $30 for a group of four. Register after April 1 for $15 per person or $40 for a group of four.
