Although I applaud the efforts of the Hopkinton Economic Development Committee, I oppose the rezoning of the area at the intersection of Routes 127 and 202/9 (the Dunkin’ Donuts corner).
Route 202/9 is not called “death alley” for no reason. Too many have lost their lives on this stretch of highway in Hopkinton and Henniker. Requested efforts to try to make that intersection safe have come to nothing.
I do not trust the state of N.H. to act quickly if the rezoning happens. More traffic will only result in more accidents and deaths. Does anyone have the statistics on the accidents and deaths on this roadway? That data should be collected so citizens of our town know the risks attendant on rezoning. Once the state of New Hampshire addresses the safety issue, then and only then should rezoning happen.
I urge Hopkinton voters to vote “no” on the rezoning of area at intersection of 127 and 202/9.
