Having a lifetime history and active involvement in the town of Hopkinton gives Lester Cressy a solid understanding and foundation for serving on the select board. He is the fourth of seven generations in Hopkinton. He and his wife, Bonnie, have two sons, four grandchildren and one great-grandson. He has deep roots and is here for the long haul.
Lester is a graduate of Hopkinton schools and understands the importance of sustaining our strong program. He is also a strong supporter of developing more businesses in town, which will create jobs and build a broader tax base.
Being retired, he shares the struggles that many have with balancing life on a fixed income with the high taxes in Hopkinton. He understands the need to keep our current residents and at the same time attract new families. This balance is vital to the healthy longevity of Hopkinton.
Through his experiences working for the Public Works Department for 13 years, the last five as the superintendent, and serving as the chairman of the Hopkinton Road Committee since 2012, Lester has a strong working knowledge of our road system. This will be very beneficial in the coming years as decisions for major expenditures for roads and bridge reconstruction are considered by the select board.
