Hundreds showed up to oppose SB 3

If a tree falls in the woods and no one is there to hear it, did it make a sound? If more than 250 people showed up from across the state to a hearing to oppose the voter restriction bill called Senate Bill 3 and the Concord Monitor didnโ€™t bother to report on the large turnout, did it happen?

Even though the Monitor failed to report the turnout, it did happen. Hundreds of people showed up from across the state and passionately opposed a bill aimed at intimidating students and newly registered voters with a series of onerous verifications they must provide, a long two-page piece of legalese they must read and understand (basically a literacy test), the threat of police investigations for those who are suspected of violating any piece of the law with stiff fines imposed on those who are judged as violating the law. Almost 90 percent of the testimony offered during the hearing vehemently opposed the adoption of this bill.
