A federal court jury has found a Franklin man guilty of producing child pornography.
Brad Smith, 33, was convicted on six counts of the felony charge after a three-day trial, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office.
Law enforcement officials in Lafayette, La., received a tip in January 2006 that an email address associated with Smith was distributing child pornography, the U.S. Attorney’s office said. Investigators traced that email address to a farm in Breux Bridge, La., where Smith was then living.
Authorities said they seized a hard drive from the home and uncovered a series of videos, including films of Smith engaging in sexual acts with a 3½-year-old child in Loudon.
Homeland Security Investigations led the investigation and was assisted by several state agencies from New Hampshire and Louisiana, officials said.
Smith is scheduled to be sentenced July 18.
