Honoring Lucy and Teresa

Thank you for highlighting Lucy Fletcher and Teresa Murphy in Ray Duckler’s story on World War I (Sunday Monitor front page, April 9). The American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 21, in Concord honors their memory regularly.

Several years ago, our unit adopted their memorial spot at Fletcher-Murphy Playlot at South and Fayette streets via the city Adopt-A-Spot program. We are about to begin spring cleanup there.

We have not forgotten the sacrifices that Lucy and Teresa made all those years ago and so far from home.
