JV results

The Concord JV baseball team (2-1) lost to Exeter, 7-4. Adrian Kennedy pitched well, allowing two earned runs. Tommy Duhaime had two hits and two RBI for the Tide. Sean McDonough and Trevor Upton each had a hit.

The Concord JV softball team defeated Exeter, 15-2. Elise O’Neil got the win in the circle with a complete game effort, striking out 10. Paige Weatherbee (three hits, three runs, five RBI), Autumn Nudd (two hits, two runs, two RBI) and Alyssa Fallon (hit, two RBI) paced the offense. Nicole LeBrun was solid on defense making some key put outs.

The Hopkinton JV baseball team lost to Kearsarge, 10-8. Jack Horne led the Hawksโ€™ offense going 3-for-3 with a double, two singles, three RBI and a run. Darren Earley (hit-by-pitch, single, reached on error) stole two bases, scored two runs, and made two great plays at shortstop.

The Bow JV baseball team defeated Merrimack Valley, 7-4. Riley Elliott took a perfect game into the fifth inning, allowed one hit and struck out eight in six innings on the mound. Matt Hamilton (4-for-4) and Tony Sampo (2-for-3) led the offense. Shortstop Nick Kiah and catcher Ben Harris led the defense.

Youth baseball

Brines defeated Bank of New Hampshire, 10-9, in a Concord Northeast game. For Bank of N.H., Ryan Stephenson had two singles, Levi Madison was strong on the mound and Alex Lacen scored a run. Nolan Wolff pitched three strong innings and played good defense. Ben Koziell had a single, while Carter Pratt singled and scored the winning run.

Flag-Works and Brines tied, 15-15, on the opening night of Concord Northeast baseball. For Flag-Works, Tommy Weaver had a home run and a triple, Connor Afflick had a home run and a single and Cameron Fiasconaro had two hits and was strong on the mound. For Brines, Deagan Hines pitched well, Logan Hayes scored three runs, and Josh Gurtner added two hits.

Youth softball

The Hopkinton Bears opened the Capital Area majors season with a 9-6 win over Penacook Pharmacy. For the Bears, Steph Elrick and Keegan St. Cyr both pitched solid innings and had strong contact at the plate. Lexi Lawler made some nice stretches at first. For Penacook Pharmacy, Nora Navoy played strong defense and Sammy Allen pitched well.

St. Paulโ€™s result

The St. Paulโ€™s School boysโ€™ varsity tennis team fell to Belmont Hill, 14-1.

Tilton results

The Tilton School boysโ€™ varsity tennis team defeated Dublin, 6-3.

The Tilton varsity baseball team defeated Northfield Mount Hermon, 17-3.

The Tilton JV baseball team fell to Mount Cardigan in five innings, 13-1.

The Tilton varsity softball team fell to Proctor Academy, 2-0.

College standouts

Deeringโ€™s Josh Partridge, a Concord High graduate and pitcher for the St. Josephโ€™s (Maine) baseball team, earned the save in a 4-1 win over Bates. Partridge fanned four batters in two perfect innings of relief.

Pembrokeโ€™s Hannah Seidner, a freshman on the Plymouth State softball, earned the win in the circle in a 7-5 victory over Castleton. Seidner pitched 5โ…“ scoreless innings, allowing four hits, one walk and striking out four. Concordโ€™s Katie Kennard, a senior, had an RBI single.

UNH athlete honored

Elinor Purrier, a junior on the University of New Hampshire womenโ€™s track and field team, was named the America East Performer of the Week. Purrier broke her own UNH record with a time of 9:34.65 in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. Her time is the fastest in the steeplechase in the NCAA this year. Purrierโ€™s efforts have helped the Wildcats to a No. 31 ranking, ahead of big track programs such as Missouri, Oklahoma, Indiana and Notre Dame.

UNH field hockey summer camps are now accepting registrations for three 2017 camps: session I (June 28-July 1), session II (July 5-8) and a youth clinic (July 6-7). Session I and II are open to junior high and high school students (as of fall 2017). There are overnight ($475) and commuter ($375) options for both sessions. The youth clinic will be held from 9-11 a.m. and is open to ages 5-12. The cost is $35 per day or $60 for both days. Shooterโ€™s Gold Basketball Camps will be held in six different towns around the state. UNH womenโ€™s soccer camps are now open for registration. The 2017 Junior Wildcat Girls Soccer Camp will be held from July 10-13. All female players in grades 1-5 (as of the 2017-18 academic year) are invited to register. Each day runs from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. This session costs $180. The 2017 UNH Girls Soccer Overnight Camp will be held from July 16-19. This session is open to all female player in grades 6-12 (as of the 2017-18 academic year). Concord Flyers girls track and field program will be opening the season with a practice on May 31 at Memorial Field in Concord from 5:30-7 p.m. All girls ing rades 3-8 who are interested are welcom to attend.
